# Nashville PBS Design System: backup and mirror

A private backup of the Nashville PBS brand design system, kept in GitHub so it outlives any single tool and so Claude and other assistants with access can read it as plain files.

**If you are an assistant, start with `llms.txt`**, then read `artifact/project/README.md` (the brand book), `artifact/project/api/tokens.md` (every token, readable) or `artifact/project/tokens.json`, and the guidelines under `artifact/project/components/<Name>/README.md`.

## Which copy is the truth

The **artifact** is the live system: staff and Claude edit it there, and decks and designs made in Claude are built on it. The **standalone export** is a frozen record: its October 2026 work was merged into the artifact on 2026-11-06 (`docs/DIVERGENCE.md` lists what came across and what was left out on purpose). Nothing in this repo is edited by hand; changes go into the artifact and are pulled back with the sync runbook.

## Visibility and licensing

This repo is private on purpose. It contains PBS Sans font files (licensed to Nashville PBS, not for redistribution), PBS and PBS KIDS network guides, and photography. A public, LLM-readable subset (brand book, tokens, component docs, logos) is a planned next step; see `docs/DECISIONS.md`.

## Facts assistants get wrong

- The website is **wnpt.org**, never nashvillepbs.org.
- The public name is **Nashville PBS**. "WNPT" appears only in channel lineups and in broadcast, technical or historical references.
- One accent per layout: Teal, Yellow or Coral. Accents are fills and bars, never body type on white.
