# Guides

The station's messaging guide, the national brand documents this system was checked against on 2026-09-17, and the approved-use references added the same day, split where a file was over the store's 15 MB limit (page ranges or parts in the names; nothing was removed or compressed).

| file | what |
| --- | --- |
| `Messaging-Guide-v2.pdf` | Nashville PBS Messaging Guide v2 (9 pages): core values page, positioning statement, key messages, tagline, tone pillars (moving, welcoming, bright, local) with examples, sample headlines, verbs and phrases. The mission, vision and CIRCLE values on page 2 predate the FY27-29 Strategic Plan; use the statements in the brand book instead. |
| `PBS_Brand_Guidelines_Aug2022_part_1_pages_1-25.pdf` through `part_4_pages_45-75.pdf` | PBS Brand Guidelines (Aug 2022, version 2.3): PBS logo requirements and improper use, sub-brands, station co-branding options (pages 26 to 50), third-party platforms, Sub-Channel Branding (pipe separator, stacking, separation) and the shield-only channel-guide exception (pages 64 to 67). |
| `PBS_KIDS_Style_Guide_1.3.1_part_1_pages_1-18.pdf`, `part_2_pages_19-37.pdf` | PBS KIDS Style Guide 1.3.1: logo, colorways, do's and don'ts, PBS KIDS in text, ownership attribution, color, typography (PBS KIDS Headline), design elements; appendices on supporting colors and screen contrast. |
| `PBSK_Station_Logo_Architecture_1.2.1_May2023.pdf` | PBS KIDS Station Logo Architecture 1.2.1 (May 2023): how the PBS KIDS logo and a station logo share a space without a lockup; placement, additional language, size and padding, examples. |
| `NPT-Strategic-Plan-FY2024-2026_part1.pdf` (pages 1 to 9), `_part2.pdf` (pages 10 to 18) | Nashville Public Television Strategic Plan Overview FY2024-FY2026, the station's approved adaptation of the brand in print: cover, contents, letter, mission and values, key pillars, and one divider plus one strategies page per pillar. The Documents and Print sections of the brand book and the Strategic Report canvas were measured from it. |
| `PBS_Brand-Evolution-Station-Webinar_Aug2025.pdf` | PBS Brand and Creative Team, "Welcome to the next brand evolution" station webinar (August 12, 2025, 29 slides): the 2019 to 2025 brand timeline, visual principles, the new Primary and Secondary Gradients, the optimized palette (Light Blue's position, the Primary Accent Alts Sky, Honey and Peach), the six Graphic Elements, expanded patterns and pattern corners, On-Air Toolkit 3.0, refreshed resources. Also a national example of a PBS-branded deck. |
| `PBS-App_Document_Style-Guide_Apr20231.pdf` | PBS App Document Style Guide (April 2023, 12 pages): the earlier PBS app guide, from the standalone project's uploads. The rules the brand book applies come from the PBS App Marketing Guide (July 2024), which is here only as the digest `_pbs_app_guide.txt`. Added 2026-11-06. |
| `PBS_Audience-Insight-2025-Annual-Report.pdf` | PBS Audience Insight 2025 Annual Report (PBS Business Intelligence, 45 pages): a national example of a PBS-branded data report, referenced by the Data Visualization section. The 2024 edition (25 MB) stays in the station's Report References folder. |

The PBS Brand Document Style Guide v3.0 (the governing 119-page spec) and the On-Air Toolkit Guide v3.1 are in the `Uploads` group as `PBS_Brand_Document_Style_Guide_v3_part_*.pdf` and `PBS_On-Air_Toolkit_Guide_v3.1_part_*.pdf`. What the system takes from each guide is written into the brand book (Logo, Sub-brands and Channels, Imagery and Illustration, Patterns, Broadcast); read the PDFs when a question goes beyond it.

Three text digests from the standalone project (October 2026) sit beside the PDFs: `_pbs_app_guide.txt` (PBS App Marketing Guide, July 2024: messaging, "free" language, fine print, logo and call-to-action lockups, improper use), `_passport_cobrand_guide.txt` (Nashville PBS Cobrand Logo Update, PBS, December 2023: the co-brand and Passport lockups across national digital products) and `_pbskids_architecture.txt` (PBS KIDS Station Logo Architecture 1.2.1, the same document as the PDF above). The brand book's Sub-brands and Channels section cites them. Added 2026-11-06.
