# AppPromo

The approved PBS app promotion block from the PBS App Marketing Guide (July 2024): the national PBS logo big on top and the call to action beneath it at the logo's width, because the logo alone never reads as "an app".

```jsx
<AppPromo lockup="pill" size={220} />                  // PBS logo over GET THE FREE PBS APP, plus the fine print
<AppPromo lockup="watch" size={220} />                 // PBS logo over WATCH NOW and WITH THE FREE PBS APP*
<AppPromo passport size={220} />                       // Passport stack: STREAM NOW, the Nashville PBS Passport lockup, the PBS logo; no fine print
<AppPromo lockup="pill" free={false} tone="color" />   // on a light surface, without the "free" claim
```

`tone="white"` (the default) is for Navy, PBS Blue and dark surfaces; `color` for white and light ones. `size` is the lockup width in px (the PBS logo's width), or pass `height` for the logo height. `cta` overrides the button text, in all caps ("STREAM ON THE PBS APP" is the guide's default call to action). Any "free" claim carries "*Local PBS station membership required to access some content"; `showFinePrint={false}` hides the line when it is printed elsewhere on the piece, where it must still appear once.

Rules: never the app-store icon in a layout, in a logo-and-copy lockup or embedded in text; calls to action in all caps PBS Sans, leading with "the"; "app" lowercase in running copy; "PBS Video App" is retired; the Nashville PBS app is not launched and is not referenced. When Passport and the app are promoted together the Passport lockup sits beside the PBS logo (guide, page 9); `passport` builds that stack. The rules are in the brand book under Sub-brands and Channels; the guide's digest is `assets/guides/_pbs_app_guide.txt`.
